Accelerated Mobile Pages

Accelerated Mobile Pages

Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is an open-source framework from Google and Twitter that allows building mobile pages that load almost instantaneously in any modern browser or app webview. Accelerated Mobile Pages have a limited set of technical functionality which is determined by AMP spec.

Essentially, AMP consists of 3 components:

  • AMP HTML with custom tags, properties, and a lot of restrictions.
  • AMP JavaScript that manages asynchronous loading and resource handling.
  • AMP CDN which caches AMP pages and validates them.

Accelerated Mobile Pages improve the mobile internet experience for users and have a number of advantages for businesses and organizations with the internet presence:

  • Speed improvement – AMP pages typically load in about one second.
  • Visibility – your website will rank better in Google search and is eligible to appear in the AMP carousel and as a result will attract more dedicated traffic.
  • Website metrics improvement – AMP pages allow to reduce bounce rate, increase average session duration and, as a result, improve the conversion rate on a site.
  • Engagement – visitors on an AMP page are more likely to respond to your brand’s messages and take actions you are guiding them to.
  • Competition – if you adopt AMP protocols before your competitors, you’ll have better chances to outperform them and grow a successful business.
